Winter Field Day 20th Anniversary Competition!

To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Winter Field Day, we are inviting the amateur radio community to help us create a commemorative theme and logo.

We encourage you to submit creative, original concepts that capture the spirit of operating outdoors in winter conditions, emergency preparedness, camaraderie, and the legacy of Winter Field Day.

 All the details are below, but here are the most important bits:

  • The competition ends 8 May 2026 23:59 UTC
  • You CANNOT use AI at all
  • Anything you submit belongs to the Winter Field Day Association for all commercial and noncommercial purposes
  • We require a Google login for your submission to mitigate spam

Competition Timeline

- Competition Opens: 9 April 2026 00:00 UTC

- Submission Deadline: 8 May 2026 23:59 UTC

- Winner Announcement: Prior to 31 May 2026 on https://blog.winterfieldday.org/ and our socials


Design Requirements

- All submissions must include:

- A proposed theme/title for the 20th Anniversary event

- A custom logo design that visually represents the theme and Winter Field Day

- 100% original artwork

     - a clear and recognizable design when scaled to different sizes (see format requirements)

- AI-generated content of any kind is prohibited

- Designs shall not include copyrighted or trademarked material

- Designs should aim to:

- Reflect winter operating conditions and outdoor radio activity

- Celebrate 20 years of Winter Field Day history  

- Designs must be suitable for use on:

- Event merchandise

- Certificates and awards

- Social media and website graphics

- Promotional materials


File Format Requirements

- Entrants must submit one of following vector file formats:

- Scalable Vector Graphics (.svg)

- Adobe Illustrator (.ai)

- Encapsulated PostScript (.eps)

- Artwork shall be fully editable, have all original layers intact, and be a native vector format for lossless scalability


Judging & Winner Selection

- Entries will be reviewed by the Winter Field Day Association

- Judging will be based on:

- Creativity 

- Relevance to Winter Field Day 

- Visual impact 

- Usability for branding and merchandise

- The WFDA reserves the right to request minor modifications to the winning design


Prize Package

- The selected winner will receive:

- A Winter Field Day prize pack

- Official event gear and swag

- Recognition across Winter Field Day media platforms


Usage Rights

- By submitting an entry:

- you forfeit all commercial use rights of your submitted material to the Winter Field Day Association

     - you agree to allow the Winter Field Day Association to use the submitted material in its original form for commercial and noncommercial purposes

     - you agree to allow the Winter Field Day Association to remix, adapt, or build upon the submitted material for commercial and  noncommercial purposes
